Shogun bosses his rivals at the Curragh
He was a complete baby the first day and didn't know what was going on. We put the blinkers on to teach him a bit and they will probably come off again,. Before he ran the first day he was half-speeding like a really smart horse. He will have learned a lot there. He travelled and quickened but was still very green. He's a horse to look forward to. I'd say he's very smart - he always showed that he's very smart. Obviously the first day was a bit of a shock but first-time out two-year-olds do that sometimes. It can be difficult when they bolt in first time as there are not a lot of places to go with them bar a Group or Listed race. Sometimes mentally that's difficult and not the right thing. Joseph put a visor on him for a half-speed during the week and he came up hard on the bridle. He'll have learned a lot with the blinkers and it's like running two races with them on. It's like wearing a cap or glasses. If it helps them progress mentally without being hard on them physically it has to be an advantage. Joseph said he was only doing a half-speed today, even when he got to the front. He can step in fairly quickly now to the big races. He's big and hardy and should be well able. He could step into the Futurity and those races. He's a big mature horse.
Harty and Smullen Have A Nice Day
I'm delighted with him. I actually thought our other horse (Breathe Easy) might turn the tables on him today. He's a specialist seven-furlong horse. He's an absolute legend and keeps improving and improving. He's a super little horse. He's in at Galway in the seven-furlong handicap, in which he was fourth last year. Hopefully he keeps getting decent ground. It worked out lovely for him today and Pat gave him a great ride.
Stroll Patrol shows her turn of foot
She came with a big reputation earlier in the year but it hadn't quite happened for her yet. Colin Keane said the last day to drop her back in trip as she wasn't short of speed. Andrea gave her a lovely ride and said she felt like a different filly. She probably likes the warmer weather. It was a nice pot to win and hopefully she can go on to better things. We always felt she was better than a handicapper and earlier in the year we were scratching our heads how she hadn't won.

Covert Love brings up Smullen treble in Oaks
What a day. I'm to be married next Saturday so this is the last time I can ever say this is the best day of my life. I'll get away with it today but never again! . Mark McStay and Hugo Merry put the syndicate together and so many people said no. They'll be afraid they missed out now. I'm terrified I'll wake up and find myself still in my bed in Newmarket. I couldn't be more excited. It was an incredible ride. Aidan's horse went off like a scalded cat but Pat backed off and made his own running and used her like a hare. I thought 'they aren't coming from behind' and eventually they didn't. She's a lightly raced young filly and I genuinely believe that her biggest days, if they do get bigger than this, are ahead of her. She travelled over here perfectly and seems to have a rock-iron constitution. Pat said the ground was as quick as she'd want it but there has got to be rain somewhere. There is still time to put her in the St Leger and I could supplement her for the Yorkshire Oaks. I had put her name down for it but crossed it out the day before as she was only a 92-rated handicapper at that stage. Credit has to go to the syndicate. When I said I wanted to come her not one of them thought about it twice.
Tooreen Legend gets his reward
He's a solid old horse. He keeps finding and Nina gave him a great ride,. He was second in this last year carrying 12-1 and they changed the conditions slightly this year.
Torcedor sheds his maiden status
He did it fine and was always threatening to win a maiden. He stays well and is a fine big horse.
