Owing to the low elevation of the sun, the Stewards granted permission for hurdle #5 to be omitted from this race The Stewards enquired into possible interference inside the final 150 yards of this race involving Dont Go Yet, ridden by C.D. Timmons, placed second, Forrard Away, ridden by K.M. Donoghue, placed third and Mattie's Mountain, ridden by K.J. Brouder, placed first, where it appeared that Mattie's Mountain continued to drift right resulting in the challengers being tightened for room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judges placings. They did, however, consider that interference was caused by K.J. Brouder riding carelessly, this being a breach of Rule 214. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended K.J. Brouder for 2 racedays
K.J. Brouder, rider of Mattie's Mountain, trained by Eoin Christopher McCarthy, reported at the Stewards enquiry that his mount continuously hung to the right in the closing stages of this race.
An extended handicap hurdle for four years old and upwards rated 80-109 Weights - Top weight in the original handicap and after the time of declaration shall not be less than 12st and the minimum weight is 9st 12lbs Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap shall carry 5lb extra for each hurdle race won.
