On the run to the line Killer Clown (IRE), placed second, ducked quickly left-handed into the whip, taking Known (IRE), placed fourth, off its intended line, which in turn took King Erik (GB), unplaced, off its intended line, which in turn took Rock On Rocco (IRE), unplaced, off its intended line, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Killer Clown (IRE).
Following the race the Veterinary Officer reported that Foggy Creek (FR), unplaced, lost its right hand shoe and Charlie Deutsch reported that Wye Aye (GB), unplaced, hung badly right-handed off the final bend.
