The Stewards requested a report from Ray Hackett, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Nibblers Charm, placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that jumping has been an issue with this horse in the past and he had a habit of plunging at his hurdles. He was advised by a previous rider to remove the hood and ride him more prominently in future. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation offered
The Stewards interviewed A.J.Martin, trainer, in relation to the late withdrawal of Luis Van Zandt which was withdrawn 8 minutes before the official off time of this race. Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned who stated that he had wished to withdraw the horse earlier but it had taken time to consult with all the owners. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
