An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Giuseppe Cassioli (GB), ridden by Ryan Moore and trained by Marco Botti, which raced in behind the leaders on the outside of the field before being asked for an effort approaching 2 furlongs out until being eased from approaching 1 furlong out, finishing eighth of nine, beaten by 11 lengths.
The rider was interviewed and shown recordings of the race.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the colt, during routine testing, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The rider stated that his instructions were to go forward and be positive on this occasion.
Adding that he was caught wider than he would have liked and that having asked for an effort from before turning in, his mount failed to pick up as he would have liked and had no more to give when eased late on, a fact which he had reported at Scales.
He further added that the Giuseppe Cassioli (GB) may have been unsuited by the Polytrack surface, which in his opinion, felt to be riding quite quick for the colt.
His explanation was noted.
