The Stewards reviewed an incident after the third last hurdle involving Lunar Display, ridden by J.J. Slevin, Esthers Marvel, ridden by D.J. O'Keeffe and Merry Doyenne, ridden by Mr D.L. Queally, where it appeared that Esthers Marvel was tight for room. Having reviewed the video and considered the matter, the Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted
The Stewards interviewed Mr D.L. Queally, rider of Merry Doyenne, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence Mr D.L. Queally accepted both charges put to him and did not offer any defence. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr D.L. Queally was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency and R10(3)(i) by failing to give his mount at least three strides to respond to the whip. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended Mr D.L. Queally for 1 raceday.
