The Stewards interviewed L.T. McAteer, rider of Elephant John, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who accepted that he had used his whip excessively, but stated that his first strike was for corrective purposes. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that L.T McAteer was in breach of Regulation 10.3(g)(frequency) and having considered his record, they suspended him for two racedays
The Stewards interviewed Adrian O'Shea, rider of Surviving Murmansk, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who accepted that he had used his whip excessively and apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that Adrian O'Shea was in breach of Regulation 10.3(g)(frequency) and having considered his record they cautioned him on this occasion.
