The Raceday Stewards interviewed J.M. Sheridan, rider of Benavente (GB), concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted he was in breach of the whip guidelines. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that J.M. Sheridan was in breach of R10.3(g)(frequency) and having considered his record, they suspended him for 4 racedays
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident inside the final furlong involving Free Solo, ridden by J.A
Powell, unplaced, Dan Night Andday, ridden by W.J. Lee, placed second, and Super Over, ridden by G.F. Carroll, placed third, where it appeared interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned
J.A. Powell stated that he had to check slightly. W.J. Lee stated that his mount went right in the last hundred yards but felt he corrected him as quick as possible. G.F. Carroll stated that he received pressure from his left close to the line. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards took no further action.
An extended handicap for three years old and upwards rated 50-80 Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 7lb extra for each race won.
