I thought the handicapper gave her a chance but you never know up here whether they'll handle the surface or not. That was the only doubt I had and she was 40/1 but that's not her fault. She had run well in a couple of maidens and is a good honest filly. She's in the mares' sale but I don't know if she'll go there or what we'll do with her. The Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages involving Paved Paradise, ridden by M.A. Gallagher, placed first and La Novia, ridden by C.P. Hoban, placed fourth. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned
Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that M.A
Gallagher was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly. Having taken his previous record in this regard into account, the Stewards suspended M.A. Gallagher for 1 raceday
D.E. Hogan, rider of Hey Pretty trained by John C. McConnell, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung right
The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Mr. P.L. Malone, that D.P. Davis, declared rider of Taras Way, had attempted to weigh out wearing a body protector with padding removed and had also failed to make the correct weight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, in the presence of Ger Flynn, representing J.S. Bolger, trainer and master of D.P. Davis. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that D.P. Davis was in breach of Rule 198(v) and having considered his record in this regard, they suspended him for 7 racedays. Furthermore, the Stewards granted a request from the trainer, to substitute the nominated rider with A.J. Farragher.
