The Stewards interviewed K. Reidy, rider of Whitethorn, concerning her use of the whip in this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3.(b), in that she had continued to use her whip after her chance of winning or being placed had clearly gone. Having taken her previous record in this regard into account, the Stewards cautioned her. The Stewards enquired into an incident involving Voyageofdiscovery (USA), ridden by R.C. Colgan, placed third, Dea Dia, ridden by D.E. Sheehy, unplaced, and Jasgo Star, ridden by K.A. Quinn, unplaced, where it appeared Dea Dia ran short of room and struck the running rail. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned in the presence of E. Sheehy, trainer and master of D.E. Sheehy. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was accidental and took no further action.
An extended handicap for three yrs old and upwards rated 45-65 Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra; for each race won. Riders - Confined to riders who have not ridden more than 10 winners under any National Hunt Rules or Rules of Racing between 20th March, 2016 and 1st November, 2016.
