An above average maiden for the track went to form when Slam Dunk (4/5 to 8/13) beat Fay Street by a short-head.

The pair had finished in the same order when placed behind Sharp drop over the course two weeks earlier.

Fay Street looked to have the race sown up when passing Slam Dunk (matched at 25/1 in running on betfair) early in the straight, but came out on the wrong side of a driving finish.

The winning rider Keagan Latham was champion apprentice is his native South Africa riding a total of 100 winners and this was his first in Ireland.

Slayer showed a little more than on his debut, but was strongly ridden to take third and may not be quite up to winning a maiden.
