An enquiry was held to consider interference shortly after the start involving ASADJUMERIAH, unplaced, ridden by Cam Hardie; Shallow Hal (GB), placed third, ridden by Clifford Lee; Bellagio Man (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Harry Russell; Politics (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Rowan Scott and Global Warning (GB), unplaced, ridden by George Wood.
Ben Curtis, rider of the winner, Dave Dexter (GB) and Harry Davies, the rider of Whittle Le Woods (GB), placed second, were interviewed but found not to be involved in the incident and being a 7lb claiming apprentice Davies was offered the opportunity to be accompanied in the enquiry but declined.
The interference was found to be accidental in that a free-running Politics (IRE) independently hung left-handed away from Whittle Le Woods (GB), despite its riders’ best efforts to control the gelding, which resulted in Bellagio Man (IRE) being crowded onto Shallow Hal (GB) which had to be severely checked when running out of racing room and in turn caused Global Warning (GB) to be badly buffeted around for some distance, which further resulted in Asadjumeirah (GB) being significantly hampered.
Entering the first bend, Ben Macdui (IRE), unplaced, hung badly right-handed after being crossed by the winner, Dave Dexter (GB), and carried Whittle Le Woods (GB), placed second, extremely wide off its intended line, which in turn inconvenienced Muscika (GB), unplaced, which was following but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider interference which occurred for some distance from passing 2 furlongs out until approaching the final furlong involving ASADJUMERIAH, unplaced, ridden by Cam Hardie; Whittle Le Woods (GB), placed second, ridden by Harry Davies; Bellagio Man (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Harry Russell and Muscika (GB), unplaced, ridden by Daniel Tudhope.
Being a 7lb claiming apprentice, Davies was offered the opportunity to be accompanied in the enquiry but declined.
Davies was suspended for 4 days for careless riding after allowing his mount to drift right-handed without timely correction when not fully clear of ASADJUMERIAH which was hampered and carried off its intended line for a considerable distance, which in turn resulted in Muscika (GB) being intimidated towards Bellagio Man (IRE), forcing Russell to take a precautionary check when short of room on the stands rail.
Following the race, Rowan Scott reported that Politics (IRE), unplaced, was denied a clear run inside the final furlong.
