We had him in today and it was great, Niall gave him a great ride so I'm delighted. When I was only a young lad, Niall was in India when Dad was over there so I know Niall a long time. I thought the handicapper had this lad and I asked him to drop the horse a pound to get him into a 0-116, but it looks like he was right. The race cut up though - the favourite tipped up and it probably wasn't the strongest race. He is game, Mark (McDonagh) gave him a lovely ride and thanks to the McDonaghs who support me well and Lorraine (Mark McDonagh's mother) looks after the horses when they return home on breaks. I have to thank all the owners who all stood by me (during the suspension) as it was a tough end to the year. It was messy and I advised owners to send horses here and there, and thankfully I got them back. . My horses have been running ok, but I have been running a lot of ordinary ones too so we're thinning them out now. We are very busy, I have a lot of youngsters of my own which I hope to sell and have 15 point-to-pointers. I have a bunch of yearlings too, so hopefully we'll drive on now.

He had a promising run on his return when finishing fourth at Navan and he’s come on a little bit from it. I was a little bit concerned about the ground today, but he handled it well and it’s brilliant to get a winner here at Christmas for JP. It’s been a while since we had a Christmas winner and we’re over the moon. It seemed to go pretty straight forward and it’s nice to get it. Hopefully he might come back here for the Dublin Racing Festival. We’ll see how it goes between now and then and have a chat with Frank (Berry, racing manager).

He would have been a very unlucky loser, but I suppose the loose horse also did him a little favour as he brought him out on the better ground. I had said to Jack to go wide and pick the best ground. This is a fair good horse and I did think he would win, although was worried about the gluey ground. He didn't jump early, but I told Jack to leave him asleep for as long as he could. He will be on the boat to Cheltenham in November for a graded novice. . His run behind Willie's (Mullins) High Class Hero at Listowel was a super run when Paul Townend probably just got a 'run' on Jack. He went on to win a Listed race at Limerick last week.

He jumped great apart from missing one down the back the last time. I was delighted to see something going on after a few hurdles just to give him a bit of a lead. He's a nice horse and he'll probably be better suited by a more galloping track. He was just ready to start off and Jack said there's plenty of improvement in him. He's a chaser down the road, he has a good attitude and is very relaxed. Anything from 2m6f to three miles should suit him and he'll probably step up to Listed or Graded company now.

I'm delighted to start the season with her like that. She had been a small bit frustrating last season and while she had a couple of nice runs, she never got there,. She had been a little immature mentally but the cheekpieces helped. She had a good run here last winter on heavy ground so had no worries about the ground although it was her first run of the season. We'll see what the handicapper does - last year he had her mark but if she gets a fair penalty, she might hopefully win again. That was Peter's first ride for me, Gary Cribbin his agent suggested him to me and he gave her a nice ride and filled her with confidence the whole way around.
