I got an easy lead. Cian Quirke (on Killeemore Lad) came to me at the third-last. I still didn't need to commit but it just got her racing a bit which was lovely and she battled it out well to the line. She stays further, she won at Roscommon over two miles four, and I'd say she'll be a nice chaser. I'm looking forward to riding her over a fence. I thought Glendars Mahler was unlucky last year when she fell twice and she turned upside down in Ballinrobe as well. She did everything right today and I'm delighted to get a maiden win with her. It’s the first time that Hazelhatch Lady has actually put two runs back to back and she's a very, very good horse on her day when she puts her mind to it.

This is what racing needs and we'd encourage more (syndicates) if we could. They get as much of a kick out of it as winning a big race and since they started off, 29 of the 30 are still in the syndicate. The syndicate has been self-financing as Mahler's Dollar was their first horse and he won them €40,000, so then we bought Emancipator with that money. With the prizemoney he won, we bought this horse and there's still money in the kitty. We buy horses with form as it is very hard to go the other way to buy store horses for €50,000 - where would you be going?

It was bottomless ground in Limerick the last day and he pulled up so we said we’d wait until we got a bit of nicer ground and put a pair of cheek pieces on. There is a fair bit going on up in his head and I think they helped him to concentrate. I wasn’t sure how much battle or fight he’d have but to be fair to him now he got the job done today. It’s a bonus. We knew he had a little bit of ability and he got his conditions today and it was great to come out the right side of the photo finish. He’ll tip away for the summer. His jumping was very good today, very slick, and you’d like to think he’ll jump a fence at some stage.

he has been a good, fun horse and has won five races for us now. He is owned by the Kings Horses Syndicate - I was in school in Kings Hospital in Dublin and a bunch of friends from there own him. I gave him to them a few years ago and he has been great and has near enough paid his way. hopefully we'll get another day out of him but ultimately is for sale and is one that will be going to England this year. There is a ladies' race in Cartmel in a few weeks time and we might go over there with him - a few of the lads from the syndicate are living in England now. He would be a super horse for England on good ground — he'd nearly be a 'Saturday horse' in handicap chases over there.
