He jumped very well and I'm happy with him. I was very happy with his work recently. He ran in Gowran a while back and the ground was too wet and he just couldn't get through the ground. The one thing I was happy with that day was that he settled. He has a tendency to get very lit up and very keen and hang. He's quirky. I was happy that he settled away in Gowran and didn't hang. I thought on his best form he'd have a chance. He won a maiden hurdle up here and he won a bumper (in Cork), so he's not a bad horse. I'm delighted for James. He did seven months over with Jonjo (O'Neill) and he loved it. He said he would come back for the summer with the option of going back next winter if he wants. He's a good lad and he works hard, he has a good head on him. I'm delighted for Michael Hannon (owner), he has been very patient with the horse and a few disappointing days. The horse has ability and he showed it there today.

When Robbie Power won a maiden hurdle on this horse, he said 'John, I've ridden a lot of good horses and this is as nice a horse as I've ever ridden' but unfortunately I've had to bring him back following a lot of injuries. When he won his bumper he didn't just beat good horses, he hammered them, so I knew he was worth bringing back. He was always a top class horse. I hope the handicapper isn't too hard on him and if he gets into the Munster National, he'll go there.

He won a little bit too well in Downpatrick and I thought we had a lot of weight, but it’s great that he’s won again. It’s great that Bertie (Mannion, owner/breeder) is here. He definitely deserved that as he has been consistent and is after carrying a big weight and won as he liked. We're hoping to kick on to Cheltenham in November now for a staying handicap hurdle. He wants a trip, jumps well and is honest and that's what you want. If he stayed straight we think he'd have won at Cheltenham (in March) when only beaten a couple of lengths and backed it up when finding just one too good at Aintree. We might have a couple to run at Cheltenham in November and when you have horses like these, I like to campaign them at the good places and hope to get good results. I reckon he'll be a better chaser but I'd say we'll wait to jump a fence until next year.
