The Stewards interviewed P.T. Enright, rider of Da Big Fella, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence P.T. Enright stated that he had used his whip as his mount was lary in front and had jumped right at the last three hurdles. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that P.T. Enright was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards cautioned P.T. Enright on this occasion
The Stewards enquired into an incident before the third last hurdle involving Christmas Jumper, ridden by Rachael Blackmore, placed first (dead heat) and Dylan Oak, ridden by D.J. O'Keeffe, placed fourth, where it appeared that Dylan Oak moved right and caused interference. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In her evidence Rachael Blackmore stated that Dylan Oak had come out and pushed her mount out to the right on two separate occasions causing her to check. D.J. O'Keeffe demonstrated during a video review of the latter stages of the race that his mount was hanging and jumping to the right despite his best efforts to keep the horse straight. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards accepted that Dylan Oak, ridden by D.J. O'Keeffe, was hanging badly and took no further action
D.J. O'Keeffe, rider of Dylan Oak trained by Denis W. Cullen, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung very badly during this race.
An extended handicap hurdle for four years old and upwards rated 80-95 Weights - Top weight in the original handicap and after the time of declaration shall not be less than 12st and the minimum weight shall not be less than 9st 12lbs Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap shall carry 5lb extra for each hurdle race won.
