The Stewards received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Starter, Mr J.R. Banahan, that G.B
Noonan, rider of Scalino, N. Terrassin, rider of Whatucallher and A. McCurtin, rider of Ask David had failed to obey his instructions and caused a false start. Evidence was heard from the starter and riders concerned. Mr Banahan stated that the riders had been informed of the new starting procedure but had failed to walk in in a controlled manner which resulted in he having to call a false start. G.B. Noonan stated that he did not want to pull out of his mount as he had a bad reputation. N. Terrassin stated that he went with the other horses. A. McCurtin stated that he wanted to be handy but his mount got buzzed up at the sart. All riders accepted that they had been familiarised with the new starting protocols and apologised for their actions. Having viewed the recording of the incident and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that the three riders were in breach of Rule 208
Having taken their previous record into consideration, the Stewards cautioned the three riders on this occasion.
An extended handicap hurdle for four years old and upwards rated 80-116 Weights - Top weight in the original handicap and after the time of declaration shall not be less than 12st and the minimum weight shall not be less than 9st 12lbs Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap shall carry 5lb extra for each hurdle race won.
