The winner Dandys Derriere (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Haydock on 15 June 2023 where the gelding finished sixth of seven, beaten 14 1/2 lengths.
Josh Guerriero’s explanation that the gelding benefitted for the drop in trip from 1 mile to 6 furlongs, and being ridden more prominently was noted.

Inside the final two furlongs, Muatadel (GB), placed third, which had already showed a tendency of hanging right-handed despite the riders efforts to correct the gelding, edged further right-handed inconveniencing Hey Mr (GB), placed fourth, for several strides, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Muatadel (GB).
