On several occasions after leaving the stalls there was interference between Creek Harbour (IRE), placed fifth, and Busselton (GB), placed third, when Creek Harbour (IRE) edged slightly left handed at the same time as Busselton (GB) lugged marginally right resulting in both runners becoming unbalanced as a result, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that there was no riding offence involved.
An enquiry was held to consider interference rounding the first bend when Creek Harbour (IRE), placed fifth, ridden by Ben Sanderson interfered with Busselton (GB), placed third, ridden by Trevor Whelan.
Sam James, the rider of Divine Connection (GB), unplaced, and Dale Swift the rider of Desert Dream (GB), placed second, were also interviewed but found not to be involved.
Sanderson was suspended for three days for careless riding as he had continued to ride forward aggressively whilst constantly leaning on Busselton (GB) for a sustained period and failed to correct his mount which ultimately resulted in Whelan being forced to check and surrender his pitch to Sanderson's inside.
An enquiry was held to consider interference early in the home straight when Divine Connection (GB), unplaced, ridden by Sam James, interfered with Desert Dream (GB), placed second, ridden by Dale Swift.
James was suspended for two days for careless riding as he angled his mount left-handed without being fully clear of Desert Dream (GB), causing Swift who had obtained a narrow but legitimate gap to his inside to be squeezed for room when forced onto the heels of Creek Harbour.
