An enquiry was held to consider interference just inside the 2 furlong marker involving Richard R H B (IRE), placed second, ridden by Rossa Ryan, Cicely (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Daniel Muscutt, and the winner, City Escape (IRE), ridden by Billy Loughnane.
Being a 7lb claimer, Loughnane was offered the opportunity to be accompanied but declined.
The interference was found to be accidental in that after Loughnane had initially tracked Richard R H B (IRE) into the race, he then switched City Escape (IRE) left-handed inside that runner's heels improving his position into a tight but legitimate gap.
Almost simultaneously Muscutt had angled Cicely (IRE) right-handed away from the rail and around the heels of the leader Boasty (IRE), placed fourth, which itself then lugged slightly right-handed impeding Cicely (IRE) and causing it to make contact with City Escape (IRE), which was forced onto the back of Richard R H B (IRE), before clipping that runner's heels and stumbling badly.
The performance of Cicely (IRE), which started favourite and finished unplaced, was considered.
The representative of Kevin Philippart de Foy could offer no explanation for the filly’s performance, other than Daniel Muscutt reported that the filly stopped quickly.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of Cicely (IRE), during routine testing, failed to reveal any abnormalities.
