Permission was given for Un Beau Roman (FR) to wear a red hood in the parade ring only.
An enquiry was held to consider the circumstances surrounding the apparent momentary deployment of the orange and yellow ‘stop race’ flag on the inside of the course, a short distance ahead of the second- last fence, before it was dropped.
All the riders, the Clerk of the Course, a member of the racecourse ground staff and a member of the Racecourse Executive were interviewed and shown recordings of the incident.
The riders explained that they had not seen the ‘stop race’ flag which had remained furled.
The Stewards were satisfied that the ‘stop race’ procedure had not been deployed and that the ‘stop race’ flag had been accidentally picked up in error during the fence by-pass procedure.
The result should therefore stand and a report was forwarded to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority for further consideration.
A further enquiry was held into the fence by-pass procedure during this race where only two of the three by-pass chevrons had been erected and no black and white chequered flags had been waved.
Harry Cobden, the rider of Royal Crown (FR); the Clerk of the Course and a member of the ground staff were interviewed.
Having heard their evidence, the Stewards ordered a report to be forwarded to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority for further consideration.
Cobden was further reminded of his responsibilities to not get involved in the bypassing of an obstacle.
