An enquiry was held to consider interference after the fifth fence on the first circuit involving Bardd (IRE), placed sixth, ridden by Page Fuller and Gorcombe's Rascal (GB), which was pulled up, ridden by Bryony Frost.
Frost was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as she allowed her mount to move left-handed when insufficiently clear of Bardd (IRE), causing Fuller to take a check and switch around heels.
An enquiry was held to consider interference on the bend leaving the home straight going out on the final circuit involving Go On Brycey Lad (FR), placed fourth, ridden by Ciaran Gethings, Gorcombe's Rascal (GB), which was pulled up, ridden by Bryony Frost and the winner, Dawn Sunrise (IRE), ridden by James Best.
The interference was found to be accidental as Go On Brycey Lad (FR) tried to run out on the bend, forcing Dawn Sunrise (IRE) to switch inside which in turn resulted in GORCOMBE’S RASCAL to be checked.
The apparent improvement in form of the winner, Dawn Sunrise (IRE), which had never previously been placed, was considered.
Fiona Shaw explained that Dawn Sunrise (IRE) had appreciated the slight step up in trip from 2 miles 1 furlong 165 yards to 2 miles 3 furlongs 98 yards on this occasion and had further benefitted from the flatter track at Stratford.
Her comments were noted and the gelding was routine tested.
Following the race, Bryony Frost reported that she felt that GORCOMBE’S RASCAL may have lost its action so she therefore pulled up the gelding; the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of GORCOMBE’S RASCAL failed to reveal any abnormalities.
