Sarah Bowen, the trainer of Chief Sittingbull (GB), reported that she had been unable to fit the tongue strap.
At the first fence, Caro Des Flos (FR), unplaced, jumped right-handed, colliding with Clondaw Storm (IRE), which was pulled up, but after a viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider interference prior to leaving the back straight involving Just Call Me Al (IRE), which was subsequently pulled up, ridden by Mr James King, Baily Gorse (IRE), which was subsequently pulled up, ridden by Jonathan Burke, Clondaw Storm (IRE), which was subsequently pulled up, ridden by Philip Armson, and the winner, No Cruise Yet (GB), ridden by Harry Skelton.
The interference was found to be accidental in that as the field tightened to negotiate the bend, Armson attempted to go for a tight but legitimate gap which resulted in his horse clipping the heel of No Cruise Yet (GB), and in turn, caused Just Call Me Al (IRE) to be shifted off its intended line.
James Davies, the rider of Cobra Angel (IRE), placed second, was suspended for 2 days for using his whip above the permitted level from the third last fence.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Well Briefed (IRE), which was pulled up, had bled from the nose, and that Sakhee's Conquest (GB), which was pulled up, had lost its left-hind shoe.
Mr James King reported that Just Call Me Al (IRE) made a bad mistake and stopped quickly, so he felt it prudent to pull up; the Veterinary Officer reported that the gelding had lost its left-fore shoe.
Mitchell Hunt confirmed William Marshall's report that Lets Go Dutchess (GB), which was pulled up, had made a respiratory noise; the Veterinary Officer reported that the mare had lost its left-fore shoe.
