The Stewards fined Mrs Denise Foster, trainer, ?350 for lodging a passport in respect of Merited, in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Merited in accordance with the provisions of Rule 90 (iv) G.P. Halpin, rider of Alans Pride trained by Richard John O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount stopped quickly
The Stewards met to consider a report from Ms Nicola O'Connor IHRB Veterinary Officer and Dr. Lynn Hillyer IHRB Chief Veterinary Officer concerning an incident at the conclusion of this race where J.A. Heffernan, rider of Hitchcock (GB), collided with a wall when pulling up and his mount was grazed. Evidence was heard from J.A
Heffernan who accepted the report but explained that his mount was difficult to pull up but he reacted by trying to avoid injuring a number of grooms standing in the same area. Having considered the reports and the evidence, the Stewards noted the comments and recommended that the Clerk of the Course to look at the area in question with a view to creating a safer environment for staff and riders at the termination of a race
