An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Leo Davinci (USA), ridden by Eoin Walsh and trained by George Scott, which finished fifth of nine, beaten by 6 ¾ lengths.
The rider and the trainer were interviewed and shown recordings of the race; the Handicapper offered observations and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
The rider stated that his instructions were to make sure the gelding settled and to ride him as he found him.
He added that the gelding settled adequately and he was happy with his position in the early stages and on entering the straight he had to wait before manoeuvring his horse into the clear.
He further added that this was Leo Davinci (USA)’s first run after being gelded and was still inexperienced and was keen to keep him balanced, to which he responded well in the straight.
The trainer stated that he was happy that the ride accorded with the instructions given.
