An enquiry was held to consider interference on the bend leaving the back straight when TELL’EM NOWT, placed fifth, ridden by Luke Morris interfered with El Hombre (GB), unplaced, ridden by Ray Dawson.
Morris was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he had edged TELL’EM NOWT left-handed towards the rail when insufficiently clear of El Hombre (GB), causing Dawson to be significantly tightened for racing room over a number of strides.
An enquiry was held to consider further interference on the bend leaving the back straight when Araifjan (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Tom Eaves interfered with Mumcat (GB), placed third, ridden by Tom Marquand.
Eaves was cautioned for careless riding as he had allowed Araifjan (GB) to drift left-handed towards the rail without being fully clear of a hard pulling Mumcat (GB), causing Marquand to steady off his heels.
The winner The Nail Gunner (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Chelmsford on 16 August 2022 where the gelding finished sixth of six, beaten by 8½ lengths.
Ivan Furtado’s explanation that the gelding had benefitted from being able to dominate on this occasion was noted.
The Nail Gunner (IRE) was routine tested.
