She's a strong traveller and I think she's learning how to sprint now so we'll probably keep her at that distance for a while. Five furlongs seems to be ideal. She came from the breeze-ups so she's obviously able to sprint. I would have been disappointed if she didn't run like that today because we were starting to wonder what was her trip. She's all speed. A.J. Slattery, rider of Sable Camp trained by J.A.Stack, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount either stumbled or clipped a heel about one and a half furlongs from the finish
The Stewards enquired into an incident about one and a half furlongs from the finish involving Sable Camp, ridden by A.J. Slattery, unplaced and Lady Alcazar, ridden by R.P. Cleary, placed third, where it appeared that Lady Alcazar crossed into the racing line of Sable Camp. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was caused by R.P. Cleary riding carelessly. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards cautioned R.P. Cleary on this occasion
