C.D. Hayes, rider of Take My Hand trained by Michael Mulvany, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung left throughout
The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving Mogwli, ridden by N.M. Crosse, placed first, Village Rock, ridden by D. McMonagle, placed fifth and Via Veneto, ridden by D.P. McDonogh, unplaced, where it appeared that Via Veneto ran short of room and had to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the judges placings'. They did however, find N. M. Crosse in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly. Having considered N.M. Crosse's record in this regard the stewards cautioned him on this occasion.
An extended handicap for three years old only rated 45-65 Weights - Top weight in the original handicap and after the time of declaration shall not be less than 10st and the minimum weight is 8st 6lbs Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 6lb extra for each race won.
