The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Ceanndana, trained by Ross O'Sullivan, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal
The Raceday Stewards interviewed Mr D.M. Fitzgerald, rider of Johnny Clarke, concerning his use of the whip in latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Mr D. M. Fitzgerald stated that he felt he had put his stick down when he felt his chance of winning or being placed had gone. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that Mr D.M. Fitzgerald was in breach of R10.3(b) in that he used his whip after his chance of winning or being placed had clearly gone. Having considered his record in this regard they suspended him for eight race days
The Raceday Stewards interviewed Mr Pat Taaffe, rider of Mastermind, concerning his use of the whip in in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Mr. Pat Taaffe accepted that he was in breach of the whip rules and apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that Mr Pat Taaffe was in breach of R10.3(g)(frequency) and considering his record in this regard they suspended him for three racedays.
An extended handicap hurdle for four years old and upwards rated 80-95 Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap shall carry 7lb extra for each hurdle race won.
