Mono, off the track since August, produced an above average display. Held up in the first half of the race she cruised through the field to lead before the turn for home and jumped particularly well for a six lengths victory. According to her trainer, Suzanne Cox, the key factor to this performance was that Mono was heavily in season. She was also in season when winning at Downpatrick in February of last year. Her trainer was worried about that the ground would not be soft enough for Mono who will be put in foal next week.

Market principles, Blanchfield and Boot Or No Boots, ran no sort of races. Blanchfield jumped poorly, while Boots Or No Boots was beaten heading out on the second circuit. The latter had been off the track since October, but this run was too bad to be true.

Golden Western made some late headway, but was still beaten a fair way.
