An average maiden hurdle with the well backed favourite, and Dun Doire's brother, Elbow High winning this in slightly workmanlike style. Elbow High moved through the field quite well but benefited from the fatal fall of Mybeebeetee at the second last. The winner was ridden out for a six length win.

Winning trainer Tony Martin reported "Elbow High has more gears than Dun Doire, jumps fences well and will make a nice staying chaser in time."

Mybeebeetee was most unfortunate. The gelding was travelling well but cruelly crumpled on landing two out, causing him fatal injuries. He had ability to win races but thankfully his rider Donie Fahy, who has endured his own share of injuries, was unhurt.

Runner-up Mrs Hardy had decent bits of bumper form and stayed on encouragingly. She should pick up a race at some stage while a similar comment applies to Chiraaz and Roamanob.

Non-Runners were Senor Shane (off feed) and two reserves.
