Permission was given for Democracy Dilemma (IRE) and MICHAELA’S BOY (IRE) to both go early wearing a red hood to the start; for Roman Dragon (GB), Night On Earth (IRE) and SHE’S CENTIMENTAL (USA) to all wear a red hood to the start; for Spoof (GB) to go early to post.
Leaving the stalls MICHAELA’S BOY (IRE), unplaced, jumped right-handed moving Manila Scouse (GB), placed sixth, onto Spoof (GB), unplaced, which was tightened for room and as a result made contact with the hindquarters of CHANGEOF MIND (IRE), placed eighth, which briefly became unbalanced.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching the ½ furlong marker involving Roman Dragon (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Oisin Murphy; Changeofmind (IRE), placed eighth, ridden by Harrison Shaw; MICHAELA’S BOY (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Alistair Rawlinson and Manila Scouse (GB), placed sixth, ridden by David Allan.
Murphy was suspended for 2 days for careless riding, as he had angled his mount right-handed when insufficiently clear of Changeofmind (IRE), which was impeded when moved off its intended racing line and in turn carried Manila Scouse (GB) into the path of a weakening MICHAELA’S BOY (IRE), causing Rawlinson to take a check.
