Kielan Woods, the rider of The Gold Bug (IRE), had jumped the inspection hurdle prior to the start.
After being interviewed, Woods' explanation that the gelding was running freely to post and despite efforts to pull The Gold Bug (IRE) up prior to the hurdle, he deemed it safer to jump the flight was accepted.
Sam Twiston-Davies, the rider of George Of Naunton (IRE), had jumped the inspection hurdle prior to the start.
After being interviewed, Twiston-Davies' explanation that the gelding had bolted with him on the way to post and he did not anticipate George Of Naunton (IRE) would indeed jump the hurdle but thought it was best to take the flight as he got close to it rather than try and pull up sharply was accepted.
It was noted that as the start was effected, Above Suspicion (IRE) and Kaproyale (GB) jinked and George Of Naunton (IRE) whipped round, resulting in the field being slow to begin.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Cape Robin (IRE), placed fourth, lost its left-fore shoe.
