See also » Magic-Sea-wins-with-a-flourish-for-Dawson He won here as a two-year-old on that ground, so I knew that the course and ground were okay for him, but he's just been very frustrating. There have been a few times where I thought he should have won, but it just hasn't happened for whatever reason. I don't think he does too much, to be honest. He's very easy on himself and after the race he'll be bucking and squealing. I'm so pleased it's happened here today at our local track for local owners, and everyone's here. It doesn't matter whether he goes over two or two and a half miles, he'll stay further. He came home well today, once he starts passing horses he loves it. Sarah Dawson, trainer
The Stewards enquired into the apparent improvement in form of Magic Sea, trained by Sarah Dawson, placed first, compared with its recent form. Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned who stated that her charge had raced freely on its previous run until hitting the second last hurdle very hard and losing its position. She felt that this had taught the horse to settle and also the fact he was racing on ground similar to his previous victory here as a two year old, the rider took his time today, was patient when his mount hit a flat spot during todays race and allowed him to gain confidence when passing other horses were all contributing factors to todays success
Evidence was also heard from Mr. Gary O'Gorman, Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board National Hunt Handicapper. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation given. Mr. Robert William Steele absented himself from this enquiry
S.D. Torrens, rider of Back To Bataan trained by Mervyn Torrens, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung left throughout
GENERAL INFORMATION The Stewards enquired into the withdrawal of Blue Markie through the non runner line and Ballyallaght at 10.58 a.m both trained by D.M. Christie with transport breakdown furnished as the excuse. D.M. Christie explained that his four runners at this fixture were transported using two vehicles. He said that one vehicle had broken down early into the journey and he had kept in contact with the Stewards but the same vehicle having been repaired had broken down again at a later stage. He confirmed that these horses had not arrived at this fixture but felt that he had kept the Stewards informed at all times. Having considered all the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanation offered and in the circumstances they did not impose any penalty
Following a request from broadcasters, the Stewards granted permission for the following delays: Race three + 1 minute, race four + 1 minute, race five + 1 minute and race 6 + 1 minute The following Raceday Stewards acted on behalf of the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board at this race meeting: Mr. Laurence McFerran (Chairman), Mr. David McCorkell, Mr. James Hunt, Mr. Robert William Steele, Mr. M. F. O'Donoghue
