The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving Chemistry, ridden by D.P. McDonogh, placed second, and Kinesiology (GB), ridden by S. Foley, placed first, where it appeared that interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. D.P. McDonogh stated that his mount was rallying when he received two severe bumps which knocked his momentum. He further added that he felt this interference had cost him the winning of the race. S. Foley accepted that his mount had shifted left while idling in front but was of the opinion that Chemistry had come out to meet him also causing the incident to look worse. He concluded by stating that although the winning margin was only a neck, his mount won comfortably
Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that Kinesiology had caused interference to Chemistry and as a result of this interference had improved it’s finishing position. As a consequence, the Raceday Stewards reversed the placings of the first and second positions and amended the result to read as follows: Amended Result: First: Chemistry Second: Kinesiology Third: Barnso Fourth: Aeronautic Fifth: Lady Doris Sixth: Birdman Furthermore, the Raceday Stewards accepted S. Foley's evidence that his mount was a difficult ride and were satisfied that no riding offence had occurred so therefore took no further action
D.P. McDonogh, rider of Chemistry, trained by A.P.O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount suffered interference in the closing stages and got a severe bump
S. Foley, rider of Kinesiology (GB), trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran around when he hit the front.
