An enquiry was held, adjourned from Cheltenham on 18 March 2021, into the use of the whip by Harry Bannister, the rider of Bob Mahler (IRE), which was brought down 3 fences out.
Bannister was suspended for 2 days for using his whip with excessive force when coming down the hill.
Jumping the fence coming down the hill on the first circuit, the winner, Mount Ida (IRE), jumped sharply right into and bumping Musical Slave (IRE), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The performance of Deise Aba (IRE), which was pulled up, was considered.
Philip Hobbs’ explanation that the gelding was outpaced was noted.
