Permission was given for Summit (IRE) to go early to post wearing a red hood.
An enquiry was held to consider the circumstances surrounding why the representative of Richard Hannon had initially presented the incorrect horse for identification when leaving the stable yard for the pre-parade ring in place of Yeah Nah (IRE), which was declared to run in the 1:50pm race.
On notification of this error, Hannon’s representative re-saddled and correctly presented Yeah Nah (IRE) for identification.
The representative of Richard Hannon, the Veterinary Officer and the Equine Welfare and Integrity Officer were interviewed.
Having heard their evidence, the Stewards referred the matter to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority for further consideration.
Leaving the stalls, Chinese Knot (IRE), unplaced, jumped left-handed resulting in Yeah Nah (IRE), unplaced, being carried off its intended line, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Sam James, the rider of Bellarchi (IRE), drawn 3, had appeared not to keep straight from the stalls.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, the rider was suspended for 1 day.
An enquiry was held to consider interference shortly after leaving the stalls when Bellarchi (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Sam James, interfered with Summit (IRE), placed sixth, ridden by Tom Marquand.
James was cautioned for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift right-handed carrying Summit off its intended line and causing Marquand to steady the filly.
Following the race, Rod Millman reported that Chinese Knot (IRE), unplaced, ran too free without cover and was unsuited by the step up in grade to a Class 2 Handicap from a Class 4 Handicap on this occasion.
