Permission was given for Holkham Bay (GB) to wear a red hood to post.
Leaving the stalls, Dalton Lane (IRE), placed fourth, jumped right-handed at the same time as Roys Pursuit (GB), unplaced, jumped left-handed causing Molaqab (GB), placed third, and Frank The Spark (GB), unplaced, to be tightened for room, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Dalton Lane (IRE).
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line involving Holkham Bay (GB), placed second, ridden by Jason Hart and Molaqab (GB), placed third, ridden by Daniel Tudhope.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Holkham Bay (GB)’s placing as Molaqab (GB) had hung slightly left-handed at the same time as Holkham Bay (GB) shifted quickly right- handed, resulting in the two runners lightly brushing in the final strides.
Given the very minimal nature of the incident balanced with its proximity to the winning post, Stewards were unable to be satisfied that Molaqab (GB) would have finished in front of Holkham Bay (GB) had it not occurred and therefore ordered the placings to remain unaltered.
The interference was found to be accidental.
Following the race, Graham Lee reported that Frank The Spark (GB), unplaced, hung left-handed.
Billy Garritty reported that Viscountess Renard (IRE), unplaced, was never travelling.
