Shortly after the start, a free running Osmosis (GB), placed seventh, edged right-handed onto Grand Pianola (GB) (GB), unplaced, who in turn was moved onto Frame Rate (GB), placed sixth, who turned the quarters of Spycracker (GB), placed second, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Osmosis (GB).
The winner Roman's Empress (IRE), appeared to show improved form, compared with its previous run at Beverley on 17 July 2020 where the filly finished ninth of nine runners, beaten by 45 lengths.
It was noted that Rebecca Menzies could offer no explanation for the filly’s improved form.
ROMAN’S EMPRESS (IRE) was routine tested.
The performance of One Last Hug (GB) which started second favourite and finished unplaced, was considered.
Jim Goldie’s explanation that they had used up too much of the gelding early on in the race, from a high draw when trying to get to the lead and make the running was noted.
Following the race, Paul Mulrennan reported that Peerless Percy (IRE), unplaced, was never travelling and Harrison Shaw reported that Melabi, placed eighth, was denied a clear run approximately 2 ½ furlongs out.
