An average contest and VALAIN made all and landed a gamble in the process (13/2 - 7/2). The winner was no star over hurdles but seems to be a much better chaser and jumped for fun, apart from a slight peck three out, before staying on well on the run-in.
According to winning trainer Charlie Swan "VALAIN has been frustrating over hurdles but has always looked a natural chaser. He was getting all the 5yo allowances and although he races a bit keenly, the plan was to be prominent throughout. We'll aim low again next."
BRONX GIRL is a decent sort at her best and although she never threatened the winner, may be worth following inn handicaps while CAPO DI CAPI can win an average contest, despite exiting at the third last fence, when disputing a moderate second.
WHISTLING GYPSE did win a point to point once, and although disappointing in recent times, stayed on for a moderate third while TABACO is one to bear in mind in handicap chases following a staying on but never dangerous fifth placing.
GOOD THING was weakening when he fell four out.
Non-Runner was Lord Tee (off feed).
