Neil King was cautioned as Princeton Royale (IRE) had arrived in the Parade Ring with undeclared blinkers which were then removed and without its declared visor, which was then located and fitted on to the gelding before going to the start.
Jonjo O’Neill was cautioned as Ready And Able (IRE) had arrived in the Parade Ring with undeclared cheek-pieces which were removed from the gelding before going to the start.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference approximately ½ furlong out involving the winner, Princeton Royale (IRE), ridden by Mr Jack Andrews; Darcy Ward (FR), placed second, ridden by Nick Scholfield and Danse Idol (IRE), placed third, ridden by Harry Skelton.
The Stewards considered that the interference had improved Darcy Ward (FR)’s placing as Danse Idol (IRE) was moved significantly off its intended line after receiving contact from Scholfield’s mount, causing it to lose momentum and balance which in the opinion of the Stewards, cost the gelding more than the neck that it was beaten and revised the placings as follows: First, Princeton Royale (IRE); Second, Danse Idol (IRE); Third, Darcy Ward (FR).
Scholfield was suspended for 3 days for careless riding as he allowed his horse to drift left-handed without timely or sufficient correction, making strong contact with Danse Idol (IRE), taking it off its intended line and also causing interference to Princeton Royale (IRE).
