Permission was given for Pope Gregory (GB) to go early to post and for Haraz (IRE) to go early to post and be mounted on the chute.
The Starter reported that Luna Magic (GB) was the subject of a third criteria failure.
Archie Watson was informed that the filly could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
The Starter reported that Haraz (IRE) was unruly in the stalls and withdrawn at 14:11.
Paddy Butler was informed that the gelding could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.
Leaving the stalls, Arizona Gold (GB), unplaced, jumped right bumping Monaajez (USA), placed fourth, onto JOLI’S LEGACY (IRE), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider interference shortly after the start when Pope Gregory (GB), placed second, ridden by Miss Sophie Bain, interfered with the winner, Luna Magic (GB), ridden by Miss Brodie Hampson, who in turn interfered with Joli's Legacy (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Mr Henry Main, who in turn interfered with Arizona Gold (GB), unplaced, ridden by Dr Misha Voikhansky.
Miss Bain was suspended for 4 days, on dates to be notified to her by the British Horseracing Authority, for careless riding as she allowed her mount to drift right-handed without correction and when insufficiently clear, causing Miss Hampson to have to take a check and switch left off heels, which in turn caused JOLI’S LEGACY to stumble slightly and further resulted in Arizona Gold (GB) being moved off his line.
Miss Sophie Bain, the rider of Pope Gregory (GB), placed second, beaten by a head, had appeared to slightly ease before the winning post.
Being a 7lb claimer, Miss Bain was offered the opportunity to be accompanied in the enquiry but declined.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, the Stewards noted Miss Bain’s explanation that she was an inexperienced rider having her third ride and had kept riding to the winning line to the best of her ability, obtaining the best possible placing in the process.
Miss Lily Jones, the rider of Mammasaidknockuout (IRE), was unseated shortly after the line.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no other horse or rider was involved and was caused by Miss Jones becoming unbalanced.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that the winner, Luna Magic (GB), had been struck into on its left hind.
