The Stewards requested a report from T.G.McCourt, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Princess Tamay, placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that his charge disappointed on her last run , having been boxed in on the rails she seemed to loose interest. He concluded by saying that the application of cheekpieces today, seemed to have the desired effect of rekindling her enthusiasm. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
An extended handicap for three yrs old only (70 = 9st 12lb) Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra for each race won Any horse rated above 70 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 9st 12lb. Subsequently, the excess over 70 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse.
