Dan was good and positive on him. It is nice to get another one over hurdles with him. He got a fair penalty for being third in a good Grade B at Kilarney and it kind of knocked the stuffing out of us last year with him. He has dropped a couple of pound and that helped him there today. We knew that (there would be plenty of pace) and we thought that we would have something to track the whole way. As Dan said, he would have loved to have had something for a bit longer. He got caught here I think two years ago up the hill, so I just closed my eyes!. It kind of just didn't work out for him (the last day in Punchestown), he missed a hurdle or two and he was unlucky four from home when a horse in front of him missed it and shuffled him all the way back. He had to make a lot of ground from there. The last furlong he just kind of got caught for stamina then. I think he'd get it (extended 2m3f/2m4f) if things panned out properly for him, I think he is versatile enough. Ray Hackett, trainer
The Raceday Stewards received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Starter, Mr. Joe Banahan, that C. McGivern, rider of In From The Cold, P.T. Smithers, rider of Typical Thomas, D. King, rider of Rock On Seamie and M.J.M O'Sullivan, rider of I Don't Get It, disobeyed his starting orders resulting in a false start
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, D.King stated that he did everything he could to restrain his mount going forward. P.T. Smithers stated that mount was getting wound up but felt he had kept his mount under control. C.J McGivern stated that his mount was a buzzy animal and was in his hands moving forward but felt he did all he could to prevent his mount trotting forward. M.J.M O'Sullivan stated that his mount refused to race on its previous run and was conscious of him doing it again so he kept his mount moving forward but felt he had obeyed the starters orders. Having viewed the recording of the incident and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that C.J. McGivern, D.King, P.T. Smithers and M.J.M O'Sullivan were in breach of Rule 208, in that they disobeyed the starters orders. Having considered there respective records in this regard, the Raceday Stewards, suspended D.King for one raceday, C.J. McGivern for two racedays, P.T. Smithers for one raceday, and M.J.M O'Sullivan for two racedays.
