He'll go chasing next season and jumps very well. It was a real nightmare in the autumn treating him for ulcers, and a summer's grass will do him the power of good. The trip today also made a difference. Liz Doyle, trainer
S.G. McDermott, rider of Newry City, trained by J.G.Cosgrave, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a respiratory noise in running. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Mystical Dreamer, trained by Gordon Elliott, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post-race normal. The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Mystical Dreamer, ridden by R.P. McNally, and trained by Gordon Elliott. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. R.P. McNally, stated that his instructions were to drop-in and to get the horse settled and jumping. He stated that this is a free-running sort, he got him settled and he jumped ok, but he tired from the second last home. Gordon Elliott, confirmed the instructions but expressed himself dissatisfied with the ride. He stated that this horse had not schooled well over hurdles but he wasn't satisfied with the ride today. The Stewards also received a report from the Turf Club Veterinary Officer who stated that the horse was post race normal. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the trainer's evidence. They furthermore found that R.P. McNally was in breach of Rule 212(a) (i) by failing to ensure that the horse is given a full opportunity to win or of obtaining the best possible place and having taken his record in this regard into account the Stewards suspended him for seven race days and ordered him to forfeit his riding fee. Mr Peter Law, Acting Steward, absented himself from this enquiry.
