Approaching the final furlong, Gherkin (GB), placed sixth, hung sharply left-handed despite the best efforts of its rider to correct the gelding, making contact with Airshow (GB), placed fourth, and causing that gelding’s quarters to be turned, which resulted in Sarah's Verse (GB), unplaced, being short of room, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Inside the final furlong, Gherkin (GB), placed sixth, hung right-handed, causing Red Alert (GB), unplaced, to be checked in its run, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Gherkin (GB).
Following the race, Kieran O'Neill reported that Gherkin (GB), placed sixth, hung both ways.
