Permission was given for Society Queen (IRE) and Lucky Beggar (IRE) to go early to post.
Somewhere Secret (GB), trained by Michael Mullineaux, had failed to enter the parade ring.
Being satisfied this was due to sourcing a larger girth, no further action was taken.
Andrew Mullen, the rider of Somewhere Secret (GB), drawn 11, was slow to remove the blindfold resulting in his horse being slow to start.
Mullen’s explanation that the blind had got caught on the gelding’s blinkers and took two attempts to remove was noted.
The winner, Lucky Beggar (IRE) appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Pontefract on 28 April 2021 where the gelding finished third of six, beaten by 7¼ lengths, on Good to Firm going.
