a couple of the front-runners in the earlier races stuck at it so we decided to go forward in front and it is the only way to ride him. He looked like he was going to get swallowed up but put his head down and kept galloping. The fact (non-runner and front-runner) Tribal Path came out due to transport difficulties was a help so we won’t complain about that and got a nice soft lead today. He is versatile ground-wise and has a big heart which is the main thing. I think we’ll bring him out foreign to a Listed race next - we might go to France with him. They did an article in the Racing Post recently about front-runners in France and how French jockeys have to wake up, so hopefully they are asleep that day as well! John James Feane, trainer

The Stewards interviewed D.E. Hogan, rider of Not A Bad Oul Day, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found D.E. Hogan to be in breach of Regulation 10.3 (f) in that he used his whip with excessive frequency. Having considered his record in this regard, the Stewards suspended D.E. Hogan for 4 racedays.
