Sunday Smart puts her best foot forward
I thought she should nearly have won the last day and in another stride she had it. She has been a very slow learner and I'm glad we came today because I was nearly calling a halt as I thought the ground had gone and Ronan (Whelan) said she didn't like it at all. She is very honest but has just been very slow to learn and we mightn't run her again this year as she didn't really handle that ground. I think next year she'll be a Stakes filly; she needs better ground.
Imaging draws Smullen level with Keane
He is a very nice colt and I don't think I'll run him again and will have a word with Lord Grimthorpe but I'd say that's it for the year. I think the next time you'll see him is in a 2,000 Guineas Trial and he's a horse we like an awful lot and think he'll be a Group horse next year. He has progressed very well from his first run and Pat (Smullen) said he had stacks more left today. He's a good ground horse but I wanted to get a second run into him because I want to put him away for next year. He's potentially a high-class colt - he is bred to be it, looks it and is a lovely-mannered horse.
Feane plotting French raid with prolific winner
a couple of the front-runners in the earlier races stuck at it so we decided to go forward in front and it is the only way to ride him. He looked like he was going to get swallowed up but put his head down and kept galloping. The fact (non-runner and front-runner) Tribal Path came out due to transport difficulties was a help so we won’t complain about that and got a nice soft lead today. He is versatile ground-wise and has a big heart which is the main thing. I think we’ll bring him out foreign to a Listed race next - we might go to France with him. They did an article in the Racing Post recently about front-runners in France and how French jockeys have to wake up, so hopefully they are asleep that day as well!
It's a lucrative 2017 for Detailed
Moody off the mark for owner/trainer Tallis
he is a middling horse but has a future and is only filling into his frame now. He is a pure fun horse and will be a lovely horse for next year.
Hit the Silk storms home at 50/1
He ran well in a Claiming maiden at Bellewstown on his first run (when second) and ran green and jumped the road. I've always thought a lot of him but I was worried about the ground today. I'll look for a big handicap with him next.
Lordan doubles up on Voyageofdiscovery
That's not out of turn and the race turned out to suit him. He has won on soft ground in the past and has oodles of ability but saves the best for himself the whole time. Wayne (Lordan) cajoled it out of him today and gave him a great ride. He'll run again before the flat season finishes and Dundalk is also an option for him.
