Leaving the stalls, Mr Lauda (IRE), placed eighth, jumped right hampering Boogie Time (IRE), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Mr Lauda (IRE).
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final furlong involving the winner, Cuban Breeze (GB), ridden by Kieran O’Neill and Tilaawah (GB), placed second, ridden by Thore Hammer Hansen.
The interference was found to be accidental as Hammer Hansen had initially attempted to take a legitimate run between Baba Reza (GB), placed third, and Cuban Breeze (GB), whereupon his mount hung right-handed onto the heels of Cuban Breeze (GB), before Cuban Breeze (GB) then edged quickly left away from the whip and was corrected by O’Neill, which resulted in Tilaawah (GB) being eased and switched right around the heels of Cuban Breeze (GB) to stay on and be beaten by a neck margin.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Cuban Breeze (GB)’s placing and ordered the placings to remain unaltered.
The performance of Boogie Time (IRE), which started favourite and finished unplaced, was considered.
Harrison Shaw reported that the colt became upset in the stalls and K R Burke’s representative could offer no other explanation for Boogie Time (IRE)’s performance.
The colt was routine tested.
